Privacy
Privacy and measurement
California Stormwater Intelligence is a public, read-only view of official California Water Board data. You do not need an account, and we do not ask who you are to use the site. We do measure aggregate usage so we can tell which parts of the site help stormwater professionals and which do not.
What we measure
Anonymous product analytics
Page and section usage, tied to a random browser key — not to a person.
- Pages and sections opened — which routes, and which regulatory sections (monitoring, NAL comparison, TMDL requirements, impaired-water context) were actually viewed.
- Search behaviour, not search text — we record the shape of a facility search (length, whether it looks like a WDID, how many results came back), never the text you typed.
- How you arrived — campaign parameters in the link you followed (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign) and the referring website's host name.
- Coarse device class — mobile, tablet or desktop, from window width.
What we do not do
Boundaries
- We do not store your IP address or build a device fingerprint.
- We do not sell, share or license usage data.
- We do not put names, emails or typed text into analytics events.
- We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking pixels.
- We honour your browser's Do Not Track setting: with it on, no analytics events are collected at all.
Feedback form
Details you choose to give us
Only the optional feedback form collects personal information.
If you submit feedback, any name, organization and email you enter are stored privately so we can follow up, and are readable only by the site operators. Those fields are never sent to our analytics provider — the analytics record only notes that feedback was submitted, along with the role category you selected.
